Which Star reports are designed to only be used during the current school year, and which are recommended for end-of-year reporting?
Reason
Several Star reports are designed to be used during the "current" school year in the Renaissance software, to help ensure you are providing an environment in which all students are learning and progressing towards mastery of grade-level standards. If you want to see last year's data for students in the new school year, only certain reports let you do that.
Resolution
End-of-Year Reports
To capture accurate data for where students are at the end of a school year, we recommend generating a few reports after students have tested and prior to the end of the current school year. You may want to use this information to make curriculum decisions for the next school year.
For administrators, we suggest printing/saving the following reports:
- Consolidated Assessment Proficiency Report
- Star Screening Report
- Star Growth Report
For teachers, we suggest printing/saving the following reports:
- Student Progress Monitoring Report
- State Standards Mastery - Individual Report
- Instructional Planning - Student Report
Current School Year Reports
Below, we list all Star reports that are designed to only be used during the "current" school year. If you would like to retain any of these reports, you should do so before the new school year starts.
Note: If the previous year in Renaissance has ended, but the new year has not started, these reports will continue to report on data from the school year that just ended.
- Consolidated Reports - Consolidated Reports (found under Reports > Administrator tab > Customizable Reports section) can be generated for prior years or all time; however, they are based on current student enrollment.
- Instructional Planning - Student Report - This report can include a prior year test if the student has not yet tested in current school year. Once the student has tested, this report will only report on the most recent assessment taken in the current year.
- Monitor Student Mastery Dashboard (Reading): This dashboard will only report on data from students' most recent Star Reading assessments.
- Monitor Student Mastery Dashboard (Math): This dashboard will only report on data from students' most recent Star Math assessments.
- Star Family Report - This report can only be generated for the current school year.
- Star Growth Report - This report can be generated for prior years; however, it will only include data based on current class enrollment. Note: Window-Specific Student Growth Percentiles (SGPs) are calculated if you select a prior school year during the report customization (in the School Year drop-down list).
- Star Record Book - The Star Record Book is designed to display class and student data for the current school year. Each of the tabs (Latest Assessments, Screening Comparison, CBM English Assessments, CBM Spanish Assessments), Star CBM Lectura - CBM Spanish Assessments, as well as the Skill Recommendation pages and Student Details page, offers the options to Print or Save a PDF or Download Data to a CSV file of the page you are viewing. The CBM Assessment Report, accessed by selecting View Details for the activity on the Student Details page, also includes an option to Print or Save a PDF.
- Star Screening Report - This report can only be generated for the current school year's screening periods. There is no "All Time" or "Custom Dates" option.
- Star State Performance - Class Report - This report will only report on the most recent assessment taken. Note: if you select "All Time" as the reporting period, the student's current grade level is still shown.
- Star State Performance - Student Report - Note: if you select "All Time" as the reporting period, the Pathway to Proficiency line will only be drawn for the current school year.
- Star Student Progress Monitoring Report - This report can be generated for prior years or all time based on current class enrollment; however, benchmark data that appears for any prior year tests will use the cut scores that are set up in the software at the time the report is generated. Additionally, only goals for the current year will be included.
- State Standards Mastery - Class Report - This report will only report on the most recent assessment taken in the current school year.
- State Standards Mastery - District / School Report - This report will only report on the most recent assessment taken in the current school year.
