On the Star Preschool Student Details page and the Overall tab, you can see all of the student's Star Preschool assessment scores from the current school year, and you can choose to see scores from the previous school year.
How to Get to This Page
On the Star Preschool Assessments Dashboard, select the student's name.
On the Student Details page, select the Overall tab.
Selecting the Language
You can choose to view this page in English or Spanish using the English and Español links at the top of the page.
Selecting the Student
At the top of the page, drop-down lists let you select the school, class, and student. If you only have access to one item in any of the drop-down lists, that item will be shown instead of a drop-down list. Below the drop-down lists, you will see the student's grade and ID.
Student Data on the Page
To the right at the top of the page, you'll see a summary that shows you how many of the student's scores from the current school year are in each benchmark category. In this example, the student scored in the On Watch benchmark category on one assessment and in the At/Above Benchmark category on four assessments. Since the student had no scores in the Intervention category, it is not shown.
At/Above Benchmark means the student appears to be on track (Tier 1), making the developmental progress needed to meet long-term goals to be successful in Kindergarten.
On Watch means more information is needed. Consider this result plus other observations and data to determine whether extra instructional/intervention support is needed. Progress monitoring may be needed.
Intervention means the child’s score is significantly below benchmark. Consistently offer Tier 2 or Tier 3 instructional/intervention support. Progress monitoring is recommended.
means the assessment was Discontinued, either because the student couldn't answer the practice items correctly or because the teacher stopped the assessment because the student was struggling. Continue to work with the student and try again during the next screening window. For more information, see Discontinued Star Preschool Assessments. Note: For Oral Language and Alphabet Knowledge I, assessments aren't discontinued if the student answers the practice items incorrectly.
The Current School Year Assessments table lists the assessments that have been taken this school year. For each assessment, you'll see the screening window, the measure, the Scaled Score and benchmark category, and any notes the teacher has entered.
If the student has taken assessments in a previous school year, you can see them by selecting Load Results from Previous School Years at the bottom of the page.
Printing or Downloading the Data
To print the page of results or to save it to a PDF file, select Print or Save. Then, choose the printer, or select an option to save the file as a PDF. If you are viewing data from the previous school year, it will be included; if not, that data will not be included.
To download the student's assessment results in a .csv file that you can open in a spreadsheet program, select Download Data. The data in the file depends on what you have selected in the Screening Window drop-down list - a specific screening window or all screening windows; both current and previous school year assessments are included.
The data file includes this information for each assessment:
