In Star CBM Lectura, there are two ways to monitor a student's progress during the school year: you can monitor student progress toward a specific goal or you can view a chart of all the student's tests this school year for a specific measure. On the Student Details page, you can also see students' assessments from past school years.
Seeing All Tests for a Measure During the School Year
To see a chart and table of all of a student's assessments for a measure during the current school year, on the CBM Spanish Assessments tab of the Star Record Book, select the student's latest score for the measure. Then, select the progress link for the measure at the bottom of the popup window to open the Measure Chart.
You will see a graph showing the student's assessments for the measure during this school year, separated by season (Fall, Winter, and Spring). For each score, the number correct per minute is in green, and the number of incorrect answers is in red. If benchmarks are available for the measure and season, you'll also see a dashed line that shows the Satisfactory/Optimal threshold.
If the student has a current goal, you will also see the goal (the star) and the goal line. Below the chart, you will see a table listing each of the assessments with the date, scores, and teacher notes. Select View for an assessment to see details, including the items the student answered incorrectly.
Monitoring Progress Toward a Goal
If you have set at least one goal for the student, on the CBM Spanish Assessments tab of the Star Record Book, select Track Goal in the Goal column.
On the Student Details page, for each current goal you have set, you will see a chart of the student's tests on the measure as well as the goal (the star), the goal line for the necessary score trajectory to meet the goal, and a black trend line (if the student has taken three or more tests). Above the chart, you'll see the student's expected Rate of Improvement (ROI) and the actual ROI.
You will also see a table of the student's assessments that apply toward the goal (as well as tables for previous goals and other assessments). To see detailed information about an assessment, including the items the student answered incorrectly, select View Details in the row for the assessment.
Viewing Assessment Results from Past School Years
To see all of a student's Star CBM Lectura assessments, including those from previous school years, on the CBM Spanish Assessments tab of the Star Record Book, select a student's name.
On the Student Details page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Load Results from Previous School Years.
Data will be grouped by school year. For each school year, you will see the student's goals and assessments. To see detailed information about an assessment, including the items the student answered incorrectly, select View Details in the row for the assessment.
Comparing Student Data Across Screening Windows
The Star CBM Data Insights page allows you to compare student data across screening windows so that you can see whether your students are improving over time. For more information, see Star CBM Data Insights. You can select screening windows from the current school year and the previous school year. The Proficiency Rate tile for Star CBM Lectura shows you whether the rate is up or down since the last screening window, and when you explore the data, you can compare the percentage and number of students who scored in each benchmark category in two screening windows; you can also view data for assessments that do not have benchmarks.
The % Moving Up tile for Star CBM Lectura shows you the percentage of students who scored in the Alert benchmark category in the previous screening window but whose scores have now moved up to the Satisfactory/Optimal category in the current screening window. If you explore the data, you can get more information about student transitions from one benchmark category to another across screening windows.
