Issue:
Students that tested at the beginning of the year either do not have an SGP or their first test was not used to update their SGP.
Reason:
This can happen if the dates within your Renaissance software for one school year overlap the Fall SGP window dates for the following school year and the student tests within the overlap while their grade is set to the grade they were in last year.
For example: the Fall SGP window for the 2020-2021 school year starts on 8/1/2020. If the 2019-2020 school year in your Renaissance site ends on 8/25/2020 and a student tests between 8/1/2020 and 8/25/2020, they are testing in the 2020-2021 Fall SGP window while still having a grade level from the 2019-2020 school year.
In order to receive an SGP based on fall-winter or fall-spring tests within the current year, the grade must remain the same for all test administrations. In order for a student to receive an SGP based on prior-year spring to current-year fall growth, advancement of one grade is necessary between test administrations. Mid-year promotion or demotion of grades may result in no SGP score being reported. This also applies to other cross-year SGPs for Fall-Fall and Spring-Spring time periods.
