For the Star CAT+CBM Caregiver Report, the settings on this page determine the screening windows that are used for Star CAT assessments and show which scores and measures are included for all assessments. Only district-level users can edit the settings; other users can view the settings.
How do I get to this page?
- Log in to Renaissance.
- Navigate to the report as described here.
-
Select District Report Settings to the right of the Update Report button at the top of the page.
Who can do this with default user permissions?
- District Level Administrators, District Staff: Can view and edit the settings
- School Administrators, School Staff, and Teachers: Can view the settings
- At the top of the page, the Fall, Winter, and Spring fields show which district screening windows will be used for including Star CAT data in create the report. For district-level users, these will be drop-down lists allowing them to select the dates; all other viewers will see static fields showing the selected dates but they will not be able to change them.
- Regardless of the actual names of the screening windows, the labels on the report will be Fall Screening, Winter Screening, and Spring Screening.
- Three unique, sequential screening windows must be selected, and all three of them have to be within the current school year.
- This report can be generated at any time after one of the screening windows closes, but only data up to that point will be on the report. For example, if the dates are set up as:
- Fall: 08/02/2024–08/15/2024
- Winter: 12/01/2024–01/15/2025
- Spring: 04/15/2025–06/01/2025
- If a student takes more than one Star CAT assessment in a screening window, the scores used in the report will be from the most recent assessment in that window.
- The screening windows used for Star CBM assessments are fixed and cannot be changed; the dates are listed below the Star CAT screening windows:
If a student takes more than one Star CBM assessment for the same measure in a screening window, the scores used in the report will be from the earliest assessment in that window.
- Select either the English Assessments or Spanish Assessments tab. For each grade in the selected school, the table shows which of the students' scores and measures from those assessments will be included in the report for each of the three screening windows.
- If Star Early Literacy (or Star Early Literacy Spanish) is being included in the report, you can choose (above the table) which set of subscores to show:
- Star Early Literacy (or Star Early Literacy Spanish) Subscores (the literacy subscores as described in the Score Definitions for Star Early Literacy and Star Early Literacy Spanish, grades K–3 only).
- Your state and grade specific Learning Standards (the grade-level learning standard scores that align with your state educational standards, grades K–12).
Switching this option will show a warning reminding you that doing so clears all selected subscores for all grades—be sure you want to proceed before selecting Save Change (or you can select Cancel Change to return to the settings without switching this option).
- To change the scores and measures to be included, district-level users can select Edit to the right of the grade. (This link will not be available to other users.)
- When you are finished with this page, select Done at the bottom to save any changes you have made and return to the Star CAT+CBM Caregiver Report. If you have made changes and you try to leave the page without saving them, a pop-up window will remind you and give you another chance to save your work.
