The Our Schools dashboard offers insight into proficiency and growth based on the Star and Star CBM assessments students have taken, the Accelerated Reader quizzes they have taken, their myON reading, and the Freckle practice they have done at each school.
Star Reading, Star Math, and Star Early Literacy Data
For Star Reading, Star Math, and Star Early Literacy, the Our Schools dashboard displays students assessed and proficiency rates. For the district, these are based on Star assessments taken in the most recent district screening window with completed assessments; for each school, data is based on the most recent district screening window for which the school has Star assessment data. Proficiency rates include the percentage of proficient students for district benchmarks (English and Spanish) and the percentage for state benchmarks (English only).
The Our Schools Dashboard also shows the percent of students who made typical or high growth (Student Growth Percentiles of 35 or higher).
For more about proficiency rates and Student Growth Percentiles in Renaissance Analytics, see Star Scores in Renaissance Analytics.
Accelerated Reader Data
For Accelerated Reader, the Our Schools dashboard shows the number of active students and the overall quiz proficiency (percent correct) for the past 28 days. It also includes the number of quizzes passed in the current school year. For more information, see Accelerated Reader Data in Renaissance Analytics.
myON Data
For myON, the Our Schools dashboard shows the number of active students, the average minutes read for the past 28 days, and the number of words read in the current school year. For more information about these metrics, see myON Data in Renaissance Analytics.
Freckle Data
For Freckle data, the dashboard shows the number of students who have completed one or more sessions in Freckle in the time period (active students), the average number of minutes students practiced in each subject, and the accuracy (percent correct). Data is shown for ELA and math by default; in the Metric Settings, you can choose whether to see science and social students data as well. For more information, see Freckle Data in Renaissance Analytics.
Star CBM Data
For Star CBM Reading, Star CBM Math, and Star CBM Lectura, the Our Schools dashboard displays data on the students assessed and the students in the benchmark categories.
Students Assessed includes the number of students who completed one or more assessments in the past 28 days.
Students At/Above Benchmark (Star CBM Reading and Math) and Students in Satisfactory/Optimal Benchmark (Star CBM Lectura) include the percentage of students in those benchmark categories. For the district, these are based on assessments taken in the most recent district screening window with completed assessments; for each school, rates are based on the most recent district screening window for which the school has Star CBM assessment data.
How the Data Is Shown
You'll see data for the district as a whole and for each individual school that is active on your Renaissance site. (Active schools are schools that are being used in the current school year.)
If you have district or school goals, metrics that are at or above the goal will be green, while those below the goal will be red (if there are no goals, all scores are black). You'll see the goal itself below the district's overall percentage. In the example below, a district goal of greater than 65% has been set for Student Growth Percentile. Overall, the SGP of 60.8% is below the goal, as are the percentages shown for the second and third schools, so those SGPs are shown in red. However, the first school has an SGP above 65%, so it is shown in green.
An "i" inside a circle means that there is no data for the school for the screening window. For Star proficiency rates, this means students have not tested. For Student Growth Percentile, this may mean that students have not tested or that students do not have two separate tests available in the required timeframes. For Accelerated Reader, myON, and Freckle, the "i" means the students have not completed any activities.
If you move your mouse cursor over one of the percentages, you will see more information. In the example below, the Star Reading Proficiency Rate for a school based on the District Benchmark is 50.5%. This is based on the Spring district screening window for the 2022-2023 school year. In that screening window, 91 students tested, and 46 of those students scored at or above the minimum district benchmark proficiency level as set in the district benchmarks on the Renaissance site. Only students who have tested at the school in the screening window are included in the total (91 students in the example below).
If your district has many metrics, you may need to scroll to the right to see some data. To do this, scroll to the bottom of the page; then, move the scrollbar to the right or left as needed. Below the scrollbar, you can also choose how many records to show on the page. If the data is split into multiple pages, you can use the arrows to see the next or previous page of results (or the first or last page).
Sorting the Data
By default the dashboard is sorted alphabetically by school name. You can sort it by any of the metrics by selecting the arrows to the right of the metric.
When you first select the icon, the schools on the dashboard will be sorted from highest to lowest value (). If you select it again, schools will be sorted from lowest to highest value (
). Select the icon once more to stop sorting the dashboard by that metric; the icon will change back to the down and up arrows
.
Using Filters
You can use the drop-down list at the top of the page to filter the list of students by student demographics. Once you choose the demographic in the first drop-down list, a second will appear to allow you to choose the specific data to filter by. In the example below, the administrator has chosen to filter by current grade level and is selecting a specific grade level from a second drop-down list. If you want to go back to the data for all students, select "-No Filter-" in the first or second drop-down list.
Students' demographic information must be set in your Renaissance software to be available in Renaissance Analytics. If your school uses CDI, set grade, gender, ethnicity, and characteristics in the source database. If your school does not use CDI, grade, gender, and ethnicity are set when you add or edit students or import student data in Renaissance; characteristics may be set separately in Renaissance software.
Filters also allow you to focus on schools at specific levels or in a specific region. If you need to configure your schools to assign levels and regions, see the Data Configuration Settings.
Opening a School Profile
Select a school's name to go to the School Profile Dashboard for that school, which will show you tiles for each of the applicable metrics at the school and will allow you to explore the data further. For more information, see District and School Profiles. Note: You can only open school profiles for schools that you have access to.
