In Star CBM, you can export any of the following to a comma-separated value (.csv) file, which can be opened in many spreadsheet programs:
- All reading or math scores for a class or group and the current school year
- All reading or math scores for a specific student across school years
- All scores for a specific student and measure for the current school year
If you prefer to save results to a file (PDF) or print results, you can use the Print or Save option instead.
Note: Scores for measures that are being Field Tested are not included in exported data.

Exporting Scores for the Class or Group
To export the scores for reading or math from the current school year for an entire class or group, follow these steps:
- If you see the Renaissance Home page after you log in, select Star CBM Reading or Star CBM Math, then select Record Book & Assessments.
If you see Renaissance Next instead, select Star on the left, then select Star CBM Reading or Star CBM Math and select Record Book & Assessments. - At the top of the page, use the drop-down lists to choose the subject (Reading or Math), school, and class or group. The School drop-down list is only available if you have access to more than one school. If you only have access to one subject or class/group, you will see the selected item, and there will be no drop-down list.
- On the CBM English Assessments tab, select Download Data under the table of students and scores.
A .csv file named export-CBMAssessments.csv will be downloaded to your computer.
Exporting All Scores for a Student and Subject
To export all scores for a specific student and subject (including scores from previous school years), follow these steps:
- If you see the Renaissance Home page after you log in, select Star CBM Reading or Star CBM Math, then select Record Book & Assessments.
If you see Renaissance Next instead, select Star, then select Star CBM Reading or Star CBM Math and select Record Book & Assessments. - At the top of the page, use the drop-down lists to choose the subject (Reading or Math), school, and class or group. The School drop-down list is only available if you have access to more than one school. If you only have access to one subject or class/group, you will see the selected item, and there will be no drop-down list.
- Select the name of the student on the CBM English Assessments tab.
- Select Download Data.
A .csv file named export-StudentDetails.csv will be downloaded to your computer.
Exporting Scores for a Student and Measure in the Current School Year
To export all scores for a specific student and measure for the current school year, follow these steps:
- If you see the Renaissance Home page after you log in, select Star CBM Reading or Star CBM Math, then select Record Book & Assessments.
If you see Renaissance Next instead, select Star, then select Star CBM Reading or Star CBM Math and select Record Book & Assessments. - At the top of the page, use the drop-down lists to choose the subject (Reading or Math), school, and class or group. The School drop-down list is only available if you have access to more than one school. If you only have access to one subject or class/group, you will see the selected item, and there will be no drop-down list.
- Select a student's latest score for a measure. Then, select the progress link at the bottom of the popup window.
- Select Download Data at the bottom of the page.
A .csv file named export-StudentDetails.csv will be downloaded to your computer.
What Is In the Exported Files?
The exported .csv files include a row for each assessment, and each row includes the following information. For students who have not taken assessments, you will see one row without data. Exported files include columns that apply to Star Reading, Star Math, and Star Early Literacy; those columns are empty when you export information for Star CBM.
