There are a number of tasks that usually need to be done in Star Math at the start of a new school year. Select a task to see the instructions for it.

New school year?

• Get a list of things to do in all programs at the start of a new school year.

Pre-Test Preparation

• Print a list of student user names and passwords: Have this information on hand and review the procedure for logging in students.
• Read the Star Math Test Administration Manual: Helps you give a basic test orientation for the Star Math test to your students.
• Review instructions for testing students: Familiarize yourself with the entire test-taking procedure.
• Stop/resume tests: Review how to pause or stop a test and how to continue a test that was paused or interrupted.

Set Preferences

• Enterprise Tests Preference: Determines if students can only take Enterprise tests or if they can take either an Enterprise or a Progress Monitoring. Can be set at the school level or the class level.
• Math Test Type Preference: Sets the types of questions the students in a class or group will see.
• Star Math Audio Preference: Enables students to hear audio for test questions.
• Accommodations Preference: Provide extra tools and accommodations (including unlimited time) for students to use while taking Star Math (English) tests.

• Estimated Instructional Level Preference: Changes the difficulty level of the first question the student sees on a test.

• Password Requirement Preference: Determines whether a monitor password is required before students can begin taking a test.
• Monitor Password - Star Tests Preference: If a monitor password is required, use this preference to determine what that password is.
• Extended Question Time Limit Preference: Extend the amount of time a student has to answer questions.
• Star Assessments Dates and Times Preference: Define when students can take Star Computer Adaptive assessments.

View or print reports

• Review student test results and use the information to help plan instruction.
