Welcome to Basic Navigation for Star Computer Adaptive Tests. This course features a module on the different types of user roles and two interactive tours designed to guide users through essential platform features - one from the educator's perspective and another highlighting the student's experience.
The educator tour demonstrates how to access key assessment tools that support instructional decision-making. Through guided navigation, educators learn where to find reporting options, data insights, and preference settings needed to utilize the system effectively.
The student tour displays how learners engage with the assessment platform - from selecting the appropriate assessment and confirming their testing location to navigating through adaptive questions across different assessments.

Welcome to Getting Started with Star Computer-Adaptive Tests. Star CATs efficiently gather student performance data through brief, adaptive assessments, allowing educators to spend less time testing while still obtaining reliable information to support student success and data driven conversation.
Throughout this course, educators will learn how Star adaptive technology works and discover its practical applications. The course explores how these assessments serve multiple functions - from universal screening and progress monitoring to instructional planning and measuring growth.

Star computer adaptive assessments help educators identify possible student needs by using the aligned Learning Progressions available for Reading in English and Spanish and for Math. The Learning Progressions skill details include an indication of transferable, focus, and prerequisite skills in addition to Nearpod lesson resources. Using the recommended skills, educators can create instructional groups and reporting groups that support differentiated learning.
