Issue:
The total number of students does not match when comparing Star reports to the School & District Profile Proficiency views in Renaissance Analytics.
Reason:
This will occur if any of the students took their Star assessment while enrolled at a school that is different than their current school.
When students take a Star Assessment, we capture the class and school that the student was enrolled in for historical purposes. Occasionally, or in high transient schools, students will move from one school to another during a single school year. Star reports handle this scenario differently than the School & District Profile views in Renaissance Analytics.
Resolution:
This is by design. When generating Star Reports in your Renaissance site, students are included based on their current school enrollment. In Renaissance Analytics, students are included in the school where the assessment was originally captured.
For example, Sally Jones enrolled at First Street School and takes a Star assessment in the Fall District Screening Window. Later, Sally is unenrolled from First Street School and enrolled into Second Avenue School. When you view Star Reports in your Renaissance site, Sally's results will appear where she is currently enrolled Second Avenue School. However, when you are viewing data in the District & School Profile views in Renaissance Analytics, Sally's results will be included with First Street School since this is where her assessment was taken.
